Whether you travel by dragon, X-wing, Floo Powder , Stargate, rabbit hole, DeLorean, magic carpet, TARDIS, Oceanic Airlines…or NYC subway...this meetup is for you. The purpose of the NY SciFi and Fantasy is to meet other fans and enjoy the culture of these great genres together, usually by watching TV series and movies. You don’t have to be a huge fan of sci fi and fantasy to come. You don’t have to be the person who has your DVR permanently set to the Syfy Channel, speak fluent Klingon, or ha …

Our book club is devoted to discussing and reading both fantasy and science fiction novels while maintaining a fun laid-back atmosphere. We hope to draw in like-minded individuals that enjoy the imagination and depth contained in such books. This group meets once a month in Manhattan (usually the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of the month) with the goal of reading one novel in between each set of meetings. Selected books are posted on the wall of our meetup page prior to each meeting. To learn more please …

We decided to set up this group because our 13 year old would like to start playing Dungeons and Dragons but none of his friends are interested. All of the local groups are for adults, so we decided to set up a group whereby younger players can arrange meet-ups, safely, and with parental supervision. Access to group information will, therefore, be restricted to member families only.

I belong to a few horror groups, but sometimes you just want to stay local. This group is for those who want to get together talk horror, watch some films, play some xbox, go to conventions and meet like minded horror fans. We also write horror blogs so we get access to movies early and would like to share that with other fans, especially indie films. So if you live in Queens and want to check out all types of horror films(zombies, indie, b-movies, exploitation, foreign, Troma, New), play games, …

Writing can be lonely existence. Sometimes, it's good to get out from behind the keyboard, see the sun and take a moment to talk to others who feel your pain, know your highs and lows and can offer support and guidance. The Westchester Writers Round Table is open to anyone who has decided to take the plunge and work on the craft of becoming a writer. It doesn't matter whether you've just finished your first chapter or have published a dozen books. Whether you write mysteries, children's books, h …
An offshoot of the NYC Geek Adventure group, this is a group for female geeks to... uhhhh.... Get their geek on with other female geeks. Are you a female geek who needs more female friends with similar interests? Do you find the prevalence of men looking down your shirt at other geek meetups disconcerting? Do you have ovaries and like Joss Whedon, WoW, Star Trek, Sci-Fi, fantasy, Adult Swim, video games, and the like? Then this is the meetup for you.
Are you a working professional or college student who prefers the company of other geeks? Do you find yourself frequently wishing there was some sort of watering hole for people like you who watch Adult Swim, revel in the joys of DDR/video games, read esoteric books, and indulge shamelessly in intelligent debate? Do you hate hipsters with an undying passion? Do you need people to drink shamelessly with in order to summon the courage to get on stage to croon in front of a large crowd of karaoke g …
Originally this group was centered on horror but as time went on it seemed right to include both mystery and science fiction. There's this misconception that horror movies are only effective if they have a certain level of violence or gore, similar to what you might find with the Saw franchise. Films such as the Blair Witch Project, The Others and Paranormal Activity however, prove otherwise. When the audience has to conjure their own interpretation to an event based on what's implied or not vis …
Looking for a small group of guys that want to do weekend activities like movies, museums, the Bronx Zoo (even Central Park Zoo), easy hikes, walks, amusement parks, and other weekend activities. Maybe even short bus (or train) trips within the (New York) tri-state area.

This group is a great way for young (Approx : 20-35) LGBT Geeks to make new geek and/or gaymer friends and just hang out! Anyone can join, as long as you 1. are an LGBT geek, or 2. admire them. It can be hard to fit into the gay community when you're a gay geek and this group is a safe haven for gay geeks and their admirers. So, please join this group and let the Video Gaming References (pwn it!), MIT Science Degrees, Thick Rim Glasses!, Apple Computer Obsessions, and horribly uncoordinated outf …
