The end of Meetup but the beginning of something new!

Hi everyone,

Well, as I'm sure you've noticed, I haven't been very active with this group of late. I really enjoy doing it, but it's only fair to say that my heart isn't in it as much as it used to be, or as much as it needs to be to continue justifying the expense of keeping the group going.

And the expense is something I need to take into consideration. I know it may not see like much money (it's about $20 a month) but my budget is stretched about as tight as it can go, and Meetup is one of the perks that is going to have to go, I'm afraid.

But I don't want to abandon this completely! I've made some really terrific friends doing this (in particular Gary, Wayne and Andrew) and I know there are more friends to be found!

SO....

I'm going to move this to a free venue. It won't be as funky, but I think we can still make it work. The best options, I think are either:

*Facebook - A rapidly-expanding rival to MySpace. Free to join, members just need an e-mail account then create their own profile. Designed for fun with privacy options, games and activities and areas for photos.

*Live Journal - A popular blog site. Free to join, members just need an e-mail account then create their own profile. Easy for anonymity, members can make blog entries and upload/embed photos, graphics etc.

*Private email list - Free, and you already have one set up to use this site, right? I won't spam you or reveal your addy to ANYONE. I will email members individually when I organise events or hear of stuff coming up. Easier for you, and don't mind the extra work.

....I'm going to give you guys a say, so PLEASE GO VOTE IN THE POLL! The members opinions MATTER to me. I want to pick the best option and I'd appreciate feedback in order to do this.
