I've been an avid reader all of my life but have just recently begun to appreciate science fiction/fantasy. I would love to find out about excellent new books and be able to intelligently discuss them at length.
I have not but would love to, I am a newbie to the amazing world of sf/fantasy.
I read Witch Fire by James Clemens in high school and really liked it.
The LOTR movies were very good, Dune was another favorite.
I have no solid favorite, each author has something unique to add. It is hard to qualify favorites. George R. R. Martin, Ursula LeGuin, Phillip Pullman, Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Clive Barker, and Dianna Wynne Jones. These are just a few.
Battlestar Galactica is awesome. The X-Files were good. The original Twilight Zone is untouchable, in my opinion.
